Man sentenced to life for murdering former wife

by Administrator 29. March 2010 04:19

A 72-year-old physician was sentenced Friday to life in prison for killing his former wife in a downtown parking structure, authorities said. Court documents say he was convicted Wednesday of first-degree intentional homicide. He has no chance of early release.

The man claimed to have been crazy at the time, saying he was a good, conscientious, upstanding citizen who loved his family, but the jury quickly rejected his insanity plea. Sources say the man was just very angry about his divorce a few years prior. During the trial, he talked to himself and compared his life to a Greek tragedy.

17 Gang Members Indicted After Raid

by Administrator 22. March 2010 03:48

Seventeen members of a Hmong gang called Menace of Destruction were indicted in a federal court in Milwaukee for selling drugs and shooting dozens of rivals, according to court documents. Authorities raided five homes in the area and found drugs, cash, guns and documents showing narcotics sales. Police say the gang is responsible for at least 80 shootings in the last five years. Authorities believe that younger gang members did most of the shooting as part of the gang initiation.

Members rotated guns with groups in other states to avoid detection, documents say. Police said the organization is very tight-knit, and authorities did not easily develop sources within the group when the investigation began in 2007.

Man Charged in Assault of Student

by Administrator 19. March 2010 02:06

A 31-year-old registered sex offender was charged last week with sexually assaulting a University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee student in her apartment last month, authorities said. The woman said she tried to call 911 when he entered her apartment, but he knocked the phone from her hand and sexually assaulted her. According to the report, the man held a sharp object against the woman's body as he assaulted her.

He is also charged with two other assault and stalking cases that occurred in 2009 involving a 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl. The man is a licensed real estate agent who practices under a different name, reports say, but the company he worked for recently terminated his employment.

Milwaukee Pimp Pleads Guilty

by Administrator 8. March 2010 05:47

A 40-year-old Milwaukee man pleaded guilty last week to pimping at least a half dozen teenage girls in Wisconsin and other states, authorities said. He said he used his 20-year-old son to recruit the minors, have sex with them, teach them to avoid police officers and supply them with condoms. He would then take nude photos of them and post them to Craigslist, police said.

He faces at least 30 years in prison for the crime. His son faces 10 years in prison. He said he has been a pimp for 20 years. He started using his son to help recruit child prostitutes in early 2008. The two worked together to arrange dates for the minors, authorities said.

Woman Leaves Newborn on Car

by Administrator 1. March 2010 06:05

A 19-year-old woman left her fifth child, a day-old newborn, on the hood of a neighbor's car. She was sentenced Friday to 90 days in the House of Correction and four years' probation. She delivered the child in her bedroom and shortly afterward anonymously called the authorities, saying she left a baby on a neighbor's porch. The next day, however, she put the baby in a diaper bag and left her on the hood of a neighbor's car.

The prosecuting attorney acknowledged that she had led a chaotic life and had been subjected to abuse and assault, but also said she should have been familiar with the child welfare system as a result. The woman gave up parental rights to her other four children, but she's working through Children's Court to regain full custody of the child she left on the neighbor's car.
